In 1990 I became a full-time administrator. Until then I conducted research on environmental contaminants in intertidal marine organisms. Currently, I am conducting research on environmental problems caused by decades of mining activities in northwestern states. I have taught introductory biology courses at OSU since 1970 and am the senior author of a successful biology textbook, Biology, The Network of Life, published by Addison Wesley Longman. Recently, I have been immersed in various projects related to undergraduate educational reform in the United States.
